Flower Arranging Class in Ho Chi Minh City with Hotel Pickup

By the Cáo Experiences team · 2026-11-06

We run flower arranging workshops from a studio space in a quiet lane off the old quarter, picking you up from your hotel in central Saigon and dropping you back after. A session lasts about 2.5 to 3 hours and includes tools, seasonal blooms (the exact stems vary week to week based on what's fresh), tea, and hands-on teaching in English. You'll learn the fundamentals—how to condition stems, build structure, balance colour and texture—then design a finished arrangement to take home. Most guests are first-timers who worry about "not being artistic," but we design each class so absolute beginners leave with a piece they're genuinely proud of. We adapt for kids (ages 8+), seniors (we provide stools and use lighter containers), allergies, and rain (the studio is fully sheltered). What exactly happens during a session?

We meet you at your hotel lobby between 08:00–08:30 or 14:00–14:30, depending on which time slot works. Our driver knows the route and the timing is predictable—about 15 minutes to the studio. You'll arrive to a prep table with flowers already sorted and buckets of water, and we'll start with a brief walk-through: how to strip leaves, cut at an angle, condition the stems so they last longer at home. Then you move to your own workspace—each person gets a holder, floral foam, scissors, and access to the same blooms. We demonstrate one technique (spiralling, layering, or structural building) and you replicate it in real time. We're always close by to adjust an angle, suggest a colour swap, or answer questions. Most sessions have 4–8 guests, so there's enough attention without feeling rushed. By the final hour, you're refining your own design, and we photograph it before you pack it carefully in a box for the journey home. Pickup and drop-off to your hotel are included.

How do I know if hotel pickup will actually work for me?

Hotel pickup is available for hotels in central Saigon (Districts 1, 3, and parts of 5). We coordinate pickup times via WhatsApp the day before—exact location, phone number, and meeting-point clarity. If your hotel is in an outer district, we can still arrange pickup, but the travel time will be longer; we'll quote you honestly on WhatsApp. Rain, traffic, or a guest running late occasionally shifts the session start by 10–15 minutes, but we always notify you. Pickup is NOT available for airport transfers on the same day; we recommend you settle into your hotel first. The driver speaks basic English and has the studio address in Vietnamese on his phone. If you prefer to meet us at the studio directly instead of requesting pickup, that's fine—just let us know when you book.

What's the real difference between a morning and afternoon session?

Morning classes (08:30–11:30) have brighter natural light from the studio windows, which helps you see colour depth in the blooms more clearly—useful if you're learning to balance warm and cool tones. The market has just been harvested the night before, so morning flowers tend to have the longest vase life once you get them home. Afternoon sessions (14:30–17:30) are less rushed for guests who prefer a later start, and the studio is quieter (fewer sessions overlap), so you get more one-to-one attention from us. Both include tea; morning often feels energizing, afternoon more meditative. Choose based on your energy and what your hotel checkout allows. Both are equally full and equally hands-on—the timing just changes the mood and light.

Who books this, and who should skip it?

This workshop suits couples on holiday, solo travelers wanting a creative break, small groups of friends, and first-timers with zero flower experience. We've taught ages 8 to 82, and everyone leaves with something real. Families with young kids (under 8) can join if an adult stays close and helps manage the scissors and foam. Seniors often find it deeply satisfying—no standing for long, stools available, and the rhythm of arranging is calming. People with severe allergies to pollen should check with us first; we can sometimes use less-allergenic blooms or suggest a virtual consultation. Skip this if: you're arriving or leaving Saigon the same day (no time to settle in); you're on a strict 2-hour window (sessions need at least 2.5 hours to breathe); or you have a firm deadline to ship the flowers (they'll last 5–7 days at room temperature, so they're not flight-safe). People expecting luxury Instagram aesthetics sometimes feel let down—we teach real-world arranging, not styled photoshoots.

How do I prepare and what should I actually bring?

Wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting damp (water splashes happen). Closed-toe shoes are safer around floral foam and scissors. Bring your phone if you want photos, but leave jewelry at the hotel—thorns and rings don't mix. We provide all tools, flowers, and containers. Eat a light breakfast or lunch beforehand; the session focuses on work, not food. If you have allergies or dietary needs, tell us on WhatsApp and we'll adjust the tea or snacks we offer. If you're traveling with flowers in luggage afterward, pack the finished arrangement upright in a sturdy bag with the box and water vials; lay it flat and it'll bruise. Some guests order a small vase to take home too, but that's optional—ask us when you book.

How do prices and session types compare?

We don't publish prices here—they vary by season, group size, and pickup distance. Ask us for dates and a quote on WhatsApp and we'll send you exact pricing with no hidden costs. Rates include pickup, flowers, tools, tea, and takeaway box.

What should I check before booking?

Hotel location: Confirm your hotel is in central Saigon and provide the exact address and landmark details on WhatsApp. We'll confirm pickup is possible.

Allergies: Tell us about pollen sensitivity, latex sensitivity (floral foam sometimes has latex residue), or food allergies (for tea) upfront.

Skill level: We assume zero experience; tell us if you have arranging background so we can pitch the teaching level right.

Takeaway plan: Will you take the finished arrangement on a plane? (Not recommended—they travel poorly.) Want us to ship it? (We can arrange this separately; ask about options.) Leaving it with your hotel concierge? Plan ahead.

Rainy day: Sessions run in rain—the studio is fully sheltered. No reschedule needed.

Camera: If you want professional photos, tell us in advance; we can discuss options.

If you're looking to combine this with other experiences, consider pairing a flower arranging workshop with a Vietnamese coffee workshop on the same day (morning floristry, afternoon coffee), or add a street food and market tour the day before to see where some of the greenery and blooms come from locally. We also offer craft workshops, tea experiences, and group and corporate sessions if you're booking for a team.

FAQ

Do I need any flower arranging experience?

No. We teach beginners how to condition stems, build structure, and balance colour from scratch. Most guests have never done this before.

What flowers will I be arranging?

Seasonal blooms that vary weekly—roses, chrysanthemums, celosia, dusty miller, greenery. We work with what's fresh; we'll show you options when you arrive.

Will my arrangement last long if I take it home?

Yes, 5–7 days at room temperature with fresh water daily. We teach you care tips during the session. Not airline-friendly if you're flying out the next day.

What if I have a severe pollen allergy?

Tell us on WhatsApp before you book. We can sometimes use low-pollen varieties or suggest a craft workshop instead. Don't risk it if you're unsure.

Can my partner just watch instead of arranging?

Yes, but we'd encourage them to join—there's always space and it's more fun together. Watching-only is fine; they can sit nearby with tea.

What if my hotel is far from the city centre?

We can still pick you up; travel will take longer and the quote will reflect that. Ask us with your hotel details and we'll confirm.

Can I book a private session just for my family?

Yes. Private sessions cost more per person but are fully customized. Ask us for dates and pricing.

Is this suitable for kids?

Yes, ages 8 and up. We provide lighter tools and smaller containers. An adult supervises closely. Younger kids can sometimes join if the adult does the arranging and the child helps guide choices.
