Flower arranging workshop in Ho Chi Minh City with hotel pickup
By the Cáo Experiences team · 2026-11-06
Cáo Experiences runs small-group flower arranging workshops in Ho Chi Minh City where guests design 2–3 arrangements in a 2.5-hour session, learning how to prep stems, balance height and color, and condition blooms for longevity. We pick you up from your hotel in the early morning or early afternoon, bring you to a working studio in a quiet lane, and supply all materials: seasonal flowers (orchids, roses, carnations, chrysanthemums, greenery), mechanics, scissors and vessels. Sessions suit complete beginners—no prior experience needed. You'll take your finished pieces home same day in a bag we provide. We adapt for left-handers, younger kids (age 8+), seniors and those with hand mobility limits. Rain doesn't affect the session; we're indoors. How does hotel pickup actually work, and what's included?
We message you on WhatsApp the afternoon before your session to confirm your hotel name, pickup time (usually 8:45 am or 1:45 pm), and a phone number our driver will use to call when he arrives. He collects you in a car or small van from your lobby or street entrance—give us 5 minutes' grace. The 10–15 minute drive to the studio in District 1 or District 3 is included. If you're staying in District 5 or District 7, journey time is longer; we'll tell you that upfront. When the session ends, we drop you back at your hotel or another central address you choose. Keep your arrangements upright during the ride home; we pack them securely in a sturdy box.

What flowers are we actually working with, and can you choose them?
We use what's fresh that week: orchids (hardy, long-lasting), spray roses in cream or blush, burgundy or white chrysanthemums, seasonal foliage like eucalyptus or leather-leaf fern, and occasionally lisianthus or queen anne's lace. We don't let guests pre-order specific blooms—our supplier changes stock daily based on season and availability. If you have a strong color preference (all whites, or warm tones), mention it in your booking message; we'll aim to have that palette on the day. If you're allergic to pollen, tell us: we choose low-pollen varieties or remove stamens from lilies. We never use artificial flowers.
Who is this workshop actually for—and who should pick something else?
Flower arranging suits: couples on a date, solo travelers, small friend groups, office team-building (2–4 people), and anyone curious about floristry without committing to a course. Kids aged 8–16 enjoy it with a parent; we keep language simple and let them design freely. Adults over 65 find it relaxing; we ensure seats are stable and materials at comfortable height. Guests with arthritis or limited hand strength can participate—we prep some stems ahead and let you focus on placement and design.
Not ideal for: people who get anxious if they "can't make it perfect" (we emphasize it's intuitive, not technical); those needing a high-energy, fast-paced activity (this is contemplative, 90 minutes hands-on); guests wanting to learn commercial floristry for events (we teach basics, not wedding-scale production).
If you want something more active and immersive, consider a farm and countryside experience where you harvest your own flowers, or pair arranging with a Vietnamese coffee workshop or tea experience on another day.
What do I wear and bring—and what actually goes wrong?
Wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting damp or stained; water and plant debris splash. Avoid heavy jewelry that catches on stems. Bring your phone if you want photos (the finished piece, the workspace). Don't bring:
- Fragrance or strong perfume (our workspace is small; flower scents mix poorly with cologne).
- Fresh manicures you're nervous about chipping (stems are woody; nails do bump them).
- Very small children without warning (babies cry if we call someone on speaker; toddlers get bored).
What goes wrong: People arrive expecting a calm, meditative hour and instead find floristry is physically tense—your shoulders tense up leaning over stems. We fix this by reminding you to breathe, offering water breaks, and adjusting the table height. Some guests over-water their arrangements on the ride home, thinking it keeps them fresh; we show you the right moisture level before you leave. Occasionally, someone's arrangement tips in the car; we teach you the safest way to hold the box flat.

How do small-group sessions differ from private ones?
Small-group sessions (2–4 guests) keep energy social and friendly; you chat, share design ideas, and laugh if your first attempt looks unusual. Everyone works at their own pace; one person might finish in 90 minutes, another takes the full 2.5. Private sessions (1–2 people) give you one-to-one attention, custom timing, and the guide can focus entirely on your technique. Private is useful if you're a beginner nervous about being watched, or if you have a physical limitation needing hands-on help.
Compare by your priorities:
| Aspect | Small Group | Private |
|---|---|---|
| Social energy | High; meet other travelers | Intimate; just you and guide |
| Pacing | Self-directed; no rush | Custom; guide follows your speed |
| Cost basis | Lower per person | Higher total, split if 2 people |
| Best for | Couples, friends, solo travelers | Couples wanting romance; accessibility needs; customized design theme |

What happens after—how long do the arrangements last at home?
Your finished piece will last 5–7 days if you follow our care advice: trim 1 cm off each stem at home, stand in fresh cool water daily, remove any leaves below the waterline, and keep away from ripening fruit and direct sun. We'll write care notes on a card and slip it into your box. Many guests photograph their arrangement daily and share it on Instagram; the flowers fade beautifully. Some people refrigerate the arrangement overnight to extend it, especially if they're gifting it. After it fades, the mechanics and vessel are yours to keep or recycle.
If you're arranging for a specific event or want to learn how to make pieces that last longer, mention that when you book; we can adjust the flower choice and technique slightly.
What to check before you book
- Hotel location: Let us know your exact hotel name so we can calculate drive time and pickup feasibility. If you're outside the central areas (District 1, 2, 3, 5, 7), tell us—we can still collect you, but timing shifts.
- Allergies: Mention any pollen, latex (if you react to balloons or gloves), or plant-related sensitivities. We choose blooms accordingly.
- Mobility or pain: If stairs bother you, sitting for 2+ hours is difficult, or you have a hand issue, tell us upfront. Our studio is ground-floor and we adjust seating and prep.
- Kids: Confirm age and whether they've done crafts before. Kids under 8 may struggle with focus; 8+ enjoy it.
- Rainy weather: Sessions run rain or shine indoors. No cancellation needed.
- What you're taking home: Arrangements travel best lying flat in a box. If you're flying out the same day, keep it in a cool bag and take it last to avoid wilting.
Other experiences available in Ho Chi Minh City include cooking classes, street food and market tours, and art and culture classes if you want to combine activities across your visit.

FAQ
Do I need any experience with flowers or design?
No. We teach from scratch: how to hold stems, balance height, create depth. Absolute beginners are our main guests. Everyone walks away with a finished, beautiful piece.
Can I choose the flowers and colors?
We work with what's fresh that week (orchids, roses, chrysanthemums, foliage). Tell us your color preference when booking—whites, warm tones, pastels—and we'll match it. We can't pre-order specific blooms, but our studio buys daily.
What if I arrive and hate my arrangement halfway through?
Restart. We have spare flowers. This happens; no shame. Some people redesign twice and leave with their favorite version.
Will my arrangement fit in a suitcase to take home?
It depends on your luggage size. Arrangements are typically 10–12 inches tall and 8 inches wide. We pack them upright in a sturdy box. Laying it down flat in a larger suitcase works if you're careful. Carry-on can be tight; checked baggage is safer.
Is there a minimum group size, or can I book alone?
Book alone or with others. Small groups (2–4) are our standard. Private sessions (just you) are available too. Cost differs; ask us on WhatsApp.
What if it rains or the weather is very hot that day?
We're indoors, so rain doesn't affect the session. Heat can wilt flowers slightly—we keep the workspace cool and provide water. The session runs as normal.
Can kids do this, and what age is best?
Ages 8+ do well, with a parent present. Younger children can attend but may lose focus after 60–90 minutes. Teens love it. Tell us your child's age when booking; we'll set expectations.
Do you offer gift certificates or group rates?
Yes. Message us on WhatsApp with your group size or gift-giving timeline. We'll give you information on dates and available options.
